I have been in the industry since 1983 where I started an apprenticeship as a photolithographer. Things have changed a little since then and while in the early 2000s most of the work I was doing was print related – books, magazines, brochures, posters etc, the big world wide web took over. It was around 2008 when web work became leader with more than 50% overall sales in web design and development than in print related work.
Today, at least 90% of the work I do is web related. But it’s not stagnant, it changes every day with new technology, fresh challenges and new horizons. It keeps me on my toes and makes the work I do exciting – discovering new ways of implementing design and functionality on the web.
The favourite part of my job is the joy I see on my client’s faces when their website is complete, business is good and they have one less thing to worry about.
